Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　Mikheil Chiaureli是斯大林的御用导演，《攻克柏林》长达近五个小时，分上下两部，处处着重突出最高统帅的高瞻远瞩。影片结尾，斯大林乘飞机抵达陷落的柏林，接受苏军的欢呼。其实这是“艺术虚构”。和《斯大林格勒战役》一样，这场实际主要由朱可夫将军指挥的战役，影片中丝毫没有他的影子。当时朱可夫已经因为功高震主，被罗织罪名，发配到乌拉尔军区去了，这是1946年的事。这部1949年的电影很自然地就将朱可夫的功劳“艺术虚构”到伟大领袖的头上了。　　因为这部影片，导演连续获得了两次国家奖金，包括1950年的斯大林奖金。中国观众熟悉的《难忘的1919》（1952）也是出自这位导演的手笔。值得一提的是，这两部影片都是由苏联作曲家肖斯塔科维奇谱曲的。
